Red Stag

The red stag, or male red deer (Cervus elaphus), is a magnificent and powerful animal, known for its impressive antlers and distinctive coat. During the summer, their coats are a rich reddish-brown color, which helps them blend into the dense forests and grassy meadows they inhabit. In winter, their coat turns a thicker and darker grayish-brown, providing better insulation against the cold. Red stags are renowned for their large, branched antlers, which can have up to 16 points and are shed and regrown annually. These antlers are not only a symbol of dominance but are also used in fierce battles during the rutting season. Red stags are native to Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa, and they have been introduced to regions like New Zealand and Argentina. They thrive in a variety of habitats, including deciduous and mixed forests, open woodlands, grasslands, and even mountainous areas. They prefer environments with a mix of woodland cover for shelter and open areas for grazing.
